The 11th International Strawberry Symposium brings together leading researchers, growers, and industry experts from around the world to explore the future of strawberry production, innovation, and sustainability.
This internationally recognized symposium is jointly organized by the Harvestis research centre and Coöperatie Hoogstraten, under the aegis of the International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS); a unique collaboration that combines scientific excellence with decades of hands-on industry expertise.
Harvestis research centre is internationally recognized for its 70 years of experience in practical research and cultivation advice, supporting growers with innovative, applicable knowledge. Coöperatie Hoogstraten complements this with more than 90 years of expertise in growing and marketing fresh strawberries, making it one of the leading cooperatives in the sector.
Together, the organizers have a strong track record in hosting international events, including:
- The 3rd International Strawberry Symposium (1996)
- 5 International Strawberry Congresses
- 13 International Strawberry Fairs
This long-standing experience ensures a high-quality symposium that fosters meaningful exchange between scientific research and commercial strategy.
Programme
The programme comprises four days of lectures by speakers, presentations and panel discussions at the Flanders Meeting & Convention Centre, as well as one day of excursions and one afternoon lectures at the Research Centre Hoogstraten in Meerle, Hoogstraten.

ISHS Young Minds Award
To encourage the next generation of horticultural scientists, ISHS presents the Young Minds Award at each symposium. Two awards are presented: one for the best oral presentation and one for the best poster by eligible junior scientists (students and early-career researchers).
Award winners receive an ISHS certificate, one year of complimentary ISHS membership, and recognition in Chronica Horticulturae.
